At the major international tournament, Submission Grappling Championship 8 in Sarajevo, with over 320 competitors from across the region, Mizfits Jiu Jitsu Academy Split achieved its greatest team success to date. For the first time in our short history, we proudly took home the trophy for 3rd best team in both the Adult and Master divisions.
The brightest individual award went to our fierce team member Daria Boduljak, who outshone the competition with her performances and deservedly earned the title of Best Fighter of the Tournament! Daria finished all her matches without conceding a single point, making her achievement even more impressive.
Results of our fighters:
- 🥇🥇 Daria Boduljak – won both her category and the open weight division through a combination of dominant submissions and point victories. She completed the tournament without conceding a single point.
- 🥇 Ante Zekan – convincingly won his category with point wins and a submission. In the open weight division, he forfeited his first match due to a pre-existing injury he bravely competed with.
- 🥋 Luka Elez – topped his group, including a quick submission victory. In the quarterfinals, he lost by a single advantage point, and narrowly missed out on bronze after a close and exciting fight.
- 🥋 Andrija Košta – had the option to choose between kids and adult divisions. He bravely decided to test his skills among adults for the first time, securing two wins and two losses, including a solid submission victory. A big step forward and valuable experience for his continued development.

Our fighters showed exceptional maturity, followed the agreed game plan, and executed instructions with focus from the corner led by the academy’s head coach, Ivo “Frusta” Vatavuk. Tactical discipline and composure in key moments further contributed to the team’s overall success.
What deserves special mention is the fact that the tournament’s organizational quality keeps improving year after year. This year’s event was flawlessly organized, with high-level professional refereeing and no complaints. Congratulations to the organizers for an outstandingly executed event.
Each of our fighters competed with determination and discipline, showing respect for the sport and their opponents. The medals, awards, and team trophy are a testament to their hard work and proof that as a club, we continue to grow with every tournament.
