Mizfits is opening a recreational MMA group for beginners.

If you are looking for MMA Split and want to start without prior experience, Mizfits is opening a recreational MMA group for people aged 16 and above. Training is for beginners and recreational athletes who want to learn the basics of striking, takedowns and ground work in a Split training hall. For enrolment and practical details, contact Joško on 091 618 9618.

What happens in an MMA class?

MMA, or mixed martial arts, brings together striking, wrestling and ground work. An MMA class includes bag work and takedowns, then connects them with movement, guard work, partner drills and ground techniques.

A beginner does not need to arrive ready for all of that. You start with the basics, controlled drills and clear instruction. First you learn how to move safely and train with another person without panic or needless ego.

Can a complete beginner train MMA in Split?

Yes. The Mizfits MMA group is open to beginners and recreational athletes aged 16 and above. You do not need previous boxing, kickboxing, wrestling or jiu-jitsu experience. It is normal to be unsure of your stance, distance or what to do on the ground during your first class. That is what training is for.

MMA has a tougher reputation than an ordinary class looks like. A good recreational group has no use for chaos. Technique is learned gradually, contact stays controlled, and training partners work with each other instead of trying to prove something. The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation, IMMAF, describes MMA as a sport combining grappling, striking and kicking within a rule set, with separate safety protocols and eligibility requirements for amateur competition. Read IMMAF’s explanation of MMA and amateur rules.

Where can I train MMA in Split?

Mizfits training takes place at 114. brigade 12 in Split. The hall has 330 m² of space, 200 m² of roll mats, two 100 m² training areas and two sides of an MMA cage. The space is set up for stand-up work, takedowns and ground techniques.

Ground work catches many beginners off guard. Anyone who wants to get to know that side of combat sports can explore Mizfits BJJ classes in Split. Jiu-jitsu is not a prerequisite for the MMA group, but it shows why a calm head on the ground is more useful than raw strength.

What is the first step for joining the Mizfits MMA group?

The simplest step is to contact Joško. Tell him about any previous experience, what interests you and whether this is your first combat sports class. He can answer based on what you share.
