Four Medals, Hard-Fought Matches, and Two New JJIF Officials

After a strong showing at the Zadar Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025, the Mizfits BJJ team from Split heads home with four well-earned medals and even more motivation for the rest of the season.

The brightest medal of the day went to Andrija Košta, who dominated the Boys U16 -69 kg division with two convincing wins by points to take home the gold.
Ivan Bosančić, Ante Zekan, and Vicko Alfirević also stood on the podium in the senior divisions – Bosančić and Zekan claiming silver, while Alfirević secured bronze.
Bosančić narrowly lost his first match on points but came back strong in his second, winning by submission and earning third place overall.

Krešimir Renić, Jakov Mladineo, and young Jakov Vatavuk – who was competing in his first BJJ match after a judo background – didn’t medal this time, but each delivered spirited and technically mature performances that show great promise.

Special mention goes to Ivo Vatavuk and Aljoša Grassi, who successfully completed the practical portion of the refereeing seminar as part of the JJIF education program, further strengthening the coaching and officiating team at our academy.

Congratulations to all our competitors, new referees, and to the hosts at JJK Zadar for putting on a well-organized event. OSS! 🥋
